A Destructive Heart

Jealousy is an emotion that often sneaks up on us. Before we realize it, we’re overwhelmed by feelings of anger and insecurity, which can lead us to resent others. It was a jealous heart that led to Jesus being put on the cross. The religious leaders of His day felt threatened by Him and became so consumed by jealousy that they sought to kill Him. That same spirit of jealousy stirred in their hearts when they later wanted to kill Peter, as recorded in Acts 5:17.
A heart filled with jealousy is a destructive heart. If we aren’t careful, jealousy can creep in and fill us with emotions that drive us to act in ways that are outside the will of God.
